Societies in Slovakia

SPOSA

The Society for helping people with autism (SPOSA) as a citizen association was the first organization in Slovakia which started to systematize the activities aimed at helping the population affected by autism in Slovakia. Thanks to the intense work of volunteers in this organization including the intense help of many experts we succeeded in building the awareness and necessity to help the population affected by autism in Slovakia, in securing duly education of such disabled pupils including the legislative delimitation of basic and continuous education of autistic pupils. Andreas Autistic Centre n.o. was established by continuous activity of SPOSA.

Andreas

Autism Centre Andreas, n.o. has grown up as a natural need to transform the first parental organization The Society for Helping People with Autism (SPOSA) into the organization building the first autism centre in Slovakia. Autism Centre Andreas, n.o. owns a building in Bratislava, which has been reconstructed and changed into the “First Autism Centre in Slovakia”. It will be a coordination, education and methodological centre for help to autism in Slovakia as well as for some clients who are eligible to stay in such a facility.

It is necessary to add, that also some Slovak third sector organizations have been partially working with autistic population, but they have not been building lifelong community housing for autistic children and adults.
